PBPA's 2017 Legacy of Service Awards Dinner and Fundraising event for Tredyffrin & Easttown Care (T&E CARE) took place on October 12th at the beautiful Desmond Hotel in Malvern.
PBPA had much to celebrate that night as it also marked our 70th year serving the area, the recognition of individuals and businesses that have made a significant impact on our community, and a tribute to the late Brian Zwaan.
A silent auction was held during the cocktail hour, highlighting many local businesses that made generous contributions. It was a great opportunity for local businesses to showcase their products and help contribute to this year’s Community Leader Award Winner: T&E CARE.
A portion of the funds raised throughout the night will be presented to T&E Care's Sandi Gorman and her team at their Fall Fest Fundraiser on November 11, 2017. Check out T&E CARE’s website for more details on the event.
The Paoli community suffered a recent loss with the passing of Brian Zwaan this past summer, so it seemed fitting that this year’s Awards Dinner honor him. Brian was a past recipient of the Business Person of the Year Award in 2012 and was heavily involved with the Front Porch Trust Scholarship Fund. The Zwaan family was gifted a plaque in his honor that will be displayed at the Paoli Veteran Memorial. His son Matthew Zwaan gave a touching tribute.
The following Awards were bestowed at the Banquet:
- Community Leader of the Year: Sandi Gorman
- Citizen of the Year: Ira Dutter
- Business Persons of the Year: Paoli Village Shoppes – Judy Huey, Rob Diserafino, Stan Luongo and Ronald Luongo
- Beautification: Matthews Paoli Ford, Kings Haven, Malvern Federal Savings Bank
- Media Award: Savvy Main Line – Caroline O’Halloran
- Lifetime Achievement: J. Anderson (Andy) Wilson
The entire evening was lovely and lively! Best of all, it is a PBPA tradition that will be repeated every year or two.
